A grassy and mostly snow-free patch of Twin Lakes shoreline yielded a couple unexpected species this afternoon: Grasshopper Sparrow (late??, elevation?) and Lapland Longspur. Both were on the north shore of the eastern lake in fairly typical habitat, and the sparrow typically skulking and unco-operative as expected for this bird outside the breeding season.
