Hi COBirders, Did an outing on this beautiful morning here, Monday, with stops at Fountain Creek Nature Center and Big Johnson Resv.
Several raptors soaring by Fountain Creek including light phase Red- tail adult, female Harrier, and a striking dark-phase Rough-legged Hawk adult. At Big Johnson the far shore, of course, was lined with a thousand geese - Canadas, and two Snow Geese. (Couldn't differentiate for Cackling at that distance). Saw one Common Loon, dozens of Redheads and Common Goldeneyes, and all three merganser species. Only a few gulls at noon, and a few other ducks like Bufflehead, and I think one female Greater Scaup.
