The swan at Quincy Reservoir, which I believe to be a trumpeter, was present
much of the day at Quincy Reservoir/Arapahoe County. It was near the
southwest shore in the morning as usual with Canada geese. Late in the
morning it flew away west with Canadas and a newly found snow goose. Late
in the afernooon it was in the original location, but towards dusk was
two-thirds of the way northward across the reservoir both north and south of
the small island near the spillway, where open water should last the
longest.
Viewing conditions are bad because of distance and the locked wire fence on
Quincy. Closer views of the reservoir may be obtained from the west side if
one takes Pitkin south fom Quincy, then turns east after about two or three
blocks and tries to find a view between houses. But there is still no
guarantee that one may obtain a view of the bird from these locations.
