Adams County: --A Long-tailed Duck was reported by Kaempfer at Barr Lake on December 5. Arapahoe County: --3 Tundra Swans were reported by Jim and Karen Schmoker at Cherry Creek Reservoir on December 5. --A Trumpeter Swam was reported by Stecher at Quincy Reservoir on December 3 and seen again on December 5. Boulder County: --A Palm Warbler was reported by Frye at the Wild Bird Center in Boulder on December 8. --An adult female Barrow’s Goldeneye was reported by Floyd at Valmont Reservoir on December 6. --Seven TUNDRA SWANS were reported by Miller at Lake McIntosh on December 5. Delta County: --A Red Fox Sparrow was reported by Garrison at the Paonia Ranger Station office in Paonia on December 9; address is 403 North Rio Grande (across the creek from Apple Valley Park) --A Harris's Sparrow was reported by Beason in his yard on December 5 and was seen as recently as December 9. Douglas/Jefferson Counties: --2 Glaucous Gulls were reported by Differding on Dec 3; 0ne of the birds was refound by Walbek on December 4; one was refoundk by Stachowiak on Decenber 5. Fremont County: --1 or 2 TRUMPETER SWANS were reported by Moss at thr private Canon City ponds (viewable from road) on December 7. --The wintering Tunnel Drive GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW was heard by Miller and Maynard on December 5. --the previously reported YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was seen again by Maynard at Centennial Park on December 5. --A YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was reporeted by Moss at the Abbey in Canon City on December 7. Larimer County: -- A pair of White-winged Crossbills was reported by Leatherman in Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins on November 22. They were seen in sections F,E, G, and C of the cemetery on December 9. --Gray-crowned Rosy Finches have been visiting feeders in Estes Park. Huerfano County: --all three species of Rosy-Finches have been visiting a feeder in La Veta on December 7. Contact Beverly Jensen 719-989-1398 for further information. Pueblo County: --A Dunlin was reported by Percival along the Arkansas River, below Pueblo Reservoir dam on December 11. --A young brownish Glaucous Gull was reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir on December 6. --A juvenile Trumpeter/Tundra Swan was reported by Percival in the middle of Pueblo Reservoir, off North Picnic Road/Juniper Breaks Campground on December 5. --A GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL (adult) and a MEW GULL were reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir on December 4; the GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen again on December 5 at the South Shore Marina. The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, December 12 is to Fort Collins Lakes and is led by Paul Slingsby, (303)422-3728. Meet Leader at 0800 at the Big Dry Creek Park parking lot: from I-25 exit(120th Ave.) Travel west on 120th Ave. about 0.5 mi. to Huron St. Turn right (north) on Huron and proceed north to 128th Ave; turn left (west) on 128th Ave. and look for the Park entrance about 0.2 mi. on your left ( you will see a rather large circular fenced-in dog run before the entrance). From there we will carpool and head north to the Loveland-Fort Collins area stopping at various lakes for wintering waterfowl, Bald Eagles and other raptors, gulls, and that ever-possible rarity. We'll eat lunch someplace warm, so you can either bring a lunch or buy one at a local grocery. We should be in the Metro area before rush hour. Bring a scope and Radios if you have them and please notify Paul if you plan to attend. The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, December 13 is to Jackson Lake and Prewitt Reservoir and is led by Norm Erthal, (303)917-2596, [email protected] , Meet Leader at 0700 at the DOW office at 6060 N. Broadway: I-25 to 58th Ave., west a short distance to Broadway and north a couple of blocks to the DOW parking loon the right. We'll be looking for ducks, grebes, loons, Long-eared Owls, raptors, gulls, and all else. Full-day trip, some moderate walking; bring lunch, warm clothing and footwear, scopes, radios and plenty of water. States Parks Pass or Fee required. Please notify Norm if you plan to attend.
