Hi Cobirders on cold Christmas Eve day!. It was 5o at 8 AM when I
put out seed. Soon a lot of birds came. I checked
at 11:30AM Sunny calm and 24 o still seed out there but no birds!
Then I spotted a larger gray bird down in the
Choke Cherry. As it moved up I saw it had long black tail lined in
narrow white. Then I noticed the narrow black face
mask of a Northern Shrike! As it moved further up even the ECODoves
left. This the first one I have seen in the yard
in recent years. It soon left but the birds were reluctant to come
back. It was yard bird #32 for 2009.
