The Bonny CBC was conducted on January 2nd, under cloudy skies with a few snow
flurries. 20 observers tallied 69 species with high counts of Cackling Goose
(2200), Red-tailed Hawk (44) including 4 Harlan's and 1 Krider's, Rock Pigeon
(36), Blue Jay (52) and White-breasted Nuthatch (54). Two new species were
added to the count list, Red-headed Woodpecker and Gray Catbird. Good numbers
of the Bonny specialties were seen including Long-eared Owl, Short-eared Owl,
Red-bellied Woodpecker, Eastern Bluebird and Northern Cardinal. I would like
to thank the participants who work very hard to find these birds and make this
count so much fun!
