Cobirders--

This morning at 10:50 AM I observed the red-shouldered hawk from the Poudre
Trail as it swooped from a tree branch near the trail into the willowy stuff in
the river bottom and up again to a horizontal branch on a tree across the
river. Here it spent 10 minutes consuming, to use Eric's vernacular, a small,
dark rodent-thing. Then it hopped around to various perches on that tree for a
couple of minutes before it flew south a short distance.

This occurred about a half mile up the trail from the parking lot off CO 392,
in the somewhat open area near the 2nd bench. I saw the bird in the same
location yesterday about 3 PM.

Along 3/4 mile of this trail during the last 3 days, I have seen (or heard)
these additional birds:
red-tailed hawk
sharp-shinned hawk
American kestrel
bald eagle
great horned owl
song sparrow
brown creeper
blue jay
red-winged blackbird
ring-necked pheasant
great blue heron (atop a utility pole)
belted kingfisher
black-capped chickadee
mallard
Canada goose
