Birders- We birded the Higbee area south of La Junta in Otero County this afternoon. Birds of interest included a ladderbacked woodpecker, lesser goldfinch, field sparrow (wintering in the area, the second time I have found it) northern shrike and two roadrunners. Both roadrunners were sitting on the ground, very still, with back feathers fluffed up to absorb the weak afternoon sun.
