JB Hayes reports, "...on Feb. 16, at 3pm, there were 2000+-10%
"white-cheeked" geese at McLellan Reservoir out on the new ice at the west
end. Over half were quite convincingly Cackling Geese.

Also, at South Platte Park just N. of C-470, on the pond closest to the west
bank of the river, were six Greater Scaup. There were 4 here on Sunday,
which I reported on the GBBC. Today were 2 adult males, 1 first-winter
male, and 3 female types, swimming around in a tight little group. There
were a few Lesser Scaup for comparison. Access to this spot is via the South
Platte Reservoir turnoff, off of Platte Canyon Road."

Could these be early northbound migrants? Could Phil have been wrong about
winter lasting 6 more weeks?
