Today, I was able to check out a couple of the local Silverthorne (Summit County) spots. Below are eBird reports for two of the areas. There were no Barrow's Goldeneye at the Blue River Water Treatment Plant but I did have 2 Wood Ducks there. I was able to find Barrow's Goldeneye at Angler Mtn Ranch pond along with Redheads and a couple of other duck species--full list below.
At the Silverthorne Osprey nest, there were a pair of Osprey together on the nest which I was not only able to see but also hear from my place which is ~200 yds from the nest. The birds were noisy! Also now seeing them actively hunting. Location: Angler Mtn Ranch Observation date: 4/8/10 Notes: These numbers are VERY conservative as I had only 8x bino's and counted only those that I could postively ID. The numbers for COME, RNDU and REDH are for certain low. The waterfowl were all on Angler Mtn Ranch Pond Number of species: 9 Canada Goose 25 Redhead 12 Ring-necked Duck 10 Barrow's Goldeneye 8 Common Merganser 6 American Crow 1 Black-capped Chickadee 2 American Robin 3 Song Sparrow 1 Location: Blue River Water Treatment Plant Observation date: 4/8/10 Notes: No Goldeneye present. My first WODU at the pond Number of species: 3 Wood Duck 2 Gadwall 7 Mallard 6 Charlie Nims Silverthorne, CO [email protected] -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
