HI COBirders,

Wow. Winds out of the SE again (like 12 windy days in a row), so climbed to my
point midday, and put out my GH Owl decoy. Nothing. From 11:00- 1:15, there
was hardly anything moving, with the exception of one very close approach by a
Raven - either checking-out me, or the decoy.

At 1:15 there was some sort of Astral Convergence, but only for 30 minutes.
There was strong wind from the SE, high-level winds blowing clouds out over the
Front Range from the W, and enough of a screen of high clouds against the
mountains to pick up high-fliers. In that time I had 5 close approaches - 3 by
3 different Red-tails, one more by a Raven, and a last one by a very vocal
female N Goshawk, who circled complaining three times.

Also seen in that time, mostly high and over the scar or the Front Range peaks:
Ferruginous Hawk - 1,
Red-tailed Hawk - 5
Sharp-shinned Hawk - 3
Cooper's Hawk - 4
Bald Eagle - 1 (adult)
Turkey Vulture - 3
Com Raven - 5
Am Crow - 7
FOS - Tree Swallow - 2

At 1:45 it was all over, saw nothing more and I closed up at 2:30. I had only
seen 2-3 accipters total up to this time! And no falcons at all today. You
just never know!

Also the usual foothills species:
White-throated Swift - 8
N Flicker
BB Magpie
W Scrub Jay
Am Robin
Black-capped Chickadee
W Bluebird
Rock Pigeon

I won't be posting any hawkwatches for a while. Busy next week, then RMBO
banding starts at Chico Basin Ranch with Nancy Gobris 4/19, so I will be out
there most days. Good Birding! You gotta love migration!
