Hi all,
This morning I photographed a Gray Flycatcher at the Hanson Nature Area in
Fountain. I saw the bird by parking in the parking lot at Hanson Nature Area
and walking across the wooden foot bridge to the west side of Fountain Creek.
I was hearing it on right, just after crossing the bridge.
Kara Lewantowicz and I scoped Big Johnson Reservoir mid-day, and saw a lot of
birds. Eared, Horned, Clark's, and Western Grebes, 1 alternate plumage Common
Loon, a Willet, 2 Wilson's Phalarope, a Least Sandpiper, and quite a few
American Avocets. There were both Franklin's and Bonaparte's Gulls swimming
side by side. There were lots of ducks, including Red-breasted Merganser and
Common Goldeneye.
Fountain Creek Regional Park was fairly quiet for birds. Some singing
Yellow-rumped Warblers and singing House Wren. We did see a Black-crowned
Night-Heron at the bigger Rice's Pond.
I looked for the Yellow-crowned Night-Heron earlier this morning and didn't see
it, though I've heard it was seen on Thursday evening, which might be last
date, unless someone sees it again.
Good birding,
Brandon Percival
