Hi again COBirders, For those you coming to Chico Basin Ranch Thursday, since it has been announced that the road will be closed by Exit 122, here are some alternate directions for travel. Thanks to Bill Maynard for the info. We still don't know how long the railroad crossing will be closed - so others may want to keep this in mind for other days as well.
Good luck - Steve Brown Alternate route to Chico Basin Ranch (fee). Take I-25 north or south to the south Fountain exit 128, Hwy 85/87 (S. Sante Fe Ave), head east across the bridge over Fountain Creek north into the edge of town and turn east just past the liquor store on the west onto W. Illinois Ave, cross the RR tracks, go past the elementary school and turn right, south, on Old Pueblo Road (S. Main St.) Stay on Old Pueblo Road 5-8 miles (?) until Hanover Road forks (merges) left just before the old metal RR tressle over Fountain Creek at a Birding Trail sign.
