Dear Cobirders,
I initially attempted to bird Twin Lakes this morning, but the dripping
snow and drooping branches and general lack of birds made it difficult. When
Nathan Pieplow called offering a quick trip to Clover Basin to see the Whimbrel
(we saw two!), I gladly left Twin Lakes after only seeing one Northern
Waterthrush.

I returned to Twin Lakes in the afternoon after the trees dried out a bit and
was very pleased. I managed to stir-up one Hermit Thrush, a few Blue-gray
Gnatcatchers, Common Yellowthroats, about a dozen Bullock's Orioles, many
Yellow-rumped Warblers, Yellow Warblers and Orange-crowned Warblers, one
Virginia's Warbler and one MacGillivray's Warbler.

In slightly related news, I ran into another White-winged Dove in Gunbarrel
this afternoon as well. This time it was sleeping on top of the traffic light
on Lookout Rd. and Spine Rd.

Cheers,
Walter Szeliga
