During the Boulder Audubon meeting on Tues. evening, when I ducked outside
for a quiet catch-up with a friend, a common nighthawk flew over, vigorously
croaking. A timely entrée en scene -- my FOS bird; I loved it.

I also finally found bobolinks in the usual places in S. Boulder, no thanks
to faithful bob reporters Bob Spenser and Bob, I mean Bill Kaempfer, who
usually tell us right away when these birds appear! Were the birds really
late this year (I used to see one by May 8 every spring)??

Ovenbird in upper foothills, south Boulder; found by Sandra Laursen & me on
her eco-steward overview. (Are you keeping secrets too, Christian?) This
bird, amazingly, was not only in the same area as last year at end of
June--but was in the SAME TREE. We are questioning its sanity (repeating an
act twice and expecting a different outcome), since it did not breed last
year, as far as we could determine. Can anyone please supply a female; and
while you're at it, bring a female Sc Tanager for Greg Canyon, just in case.

Linda
