All my photos on my current laptop got mislabeled by this 'helpful'
software that was supposed to do batch labelling which it did so well my
phoebe photos are labelled as Scaled Quail and Red-tailed Hawks and photos
on two uploads, including one on probable hybrid phoebes, on my blog were
mislabelled so I removed them . And I've started changing labels and still
have lots more to go but needed to get out to the probable hybrid phoebe
nest as I afraid they might fledge. When I went out this morning 2 fledged
and were hidden in heavy vegetation ; so I returned this evening and all
were fledged. Three fledglings followed parents several hundred feet from
nest location and beyond where I could go. Fortunately the youngest only
made it about a hundred feet from the nest and my gimpy knee let me follow
so I was able to get some photos. Since I still have so many mislabelled
photos I have to make sure all that software is off my laptop (I had some
problem software before that messed up photos long after I thought I had
deleted it so I am gunshy) before I do anymore labelling or uploading to my
blog.

Interesting note--the phoebes, which have been primarily using chip notes to
communicate recently, were using their songs to apparently communicate with
the nestlings/fledglings today. In fact they may have used their song to
call their offspring off the nest. They appeared to use their songs to
encourage the fledglings to follow them tonight. Also interesting was a
chattering type of vocalization that I heard when a parent bird went into
the vegetation presumably to feed a fledgling--I don't know if it was given
by the parent or the fledgling (fledglings usually gave a high pitched 'see'
type call). I will look again tomorrow for the family but there is a good
chance they will all be hidden and/or out of where I can follow.
