We started the day by driving to the Huerfano County Airstrip, hoping for a Burrowing Owl or 2. Did not find them there but did see: Eastern Kingbird Western Kingbird Cave Swallows Scaled Quail (a bit unusual for here) Mountain Bluebird Western Meadowlark Horned Lark Red-tailed Hawk American Kestral At Lake Maria we saw nothing but Clark's and Western Grebes We ended up at Apishapa State Wildlife Area in Las Animas County where we: Finally found that Burrowing Owl...without a prairie-dog in sight!
