Volunteer Michael Kiessig and I went out to the station yesterday to evaluate
and take down nets. We decided to open for awhile to see what a few extra
hours might bring. Along with the expected Catbirds, Yellow Warblers,
Goldfinches, etc., we caught a Yellow-billed Cuckoo, our 61st species for the
season, a first-ever for the station, a first-in-hand for me, and a gift for
Michael for spending a morning hauling poles and rebar!

We processed a total of 700 birds, approximately 10% of which were birds banded
at the station in some prior year (2005-2009). Not as good as last year (819)
which was exceptional for this location, but still 40% better than any other
prior year. A full and final report will be available in about a month after I
get the data entered.

Thanks to all volunteers and visitors......it was a busy but excellent season!
See you in the fall at Barr Lake!
