I was in Lamar on Saturday and decided to take advantage of the marginally better weather to do some birding at the community college. I added two new lifers on the day. The first was a Brown Thrasher hopping about near the builing on the north side of the campus. The second was a Mississippi Kite. I first saw the Kite on the east side of the trees, but later located it on the campus- proper. Photos can be seen in my Flickr photostream (link below). Other than the two lifers, I did not see anything out of the ordinary: I found a nesting Mourning Dove (there were lots of these around), a singing American Robin, and a lot of Red-winged Blackbirds.
