Hi all:

David Leatherman did correct me on the details of Roseate Skimmer records for
CO:

"Ithink the ones I had in Fort Collins were the first specimens, butthere were
three previous sight records (Two Buttes, Bonny, andsomewhere else that I
forget). I think the finders of the previous recordswere Bill & Inez Prather,
Andrew Spencer, and somebody else. ThePrathers had some at Hale Ponds the
other day (about a week ago). Maybe these blasted south winds are pushing them
up."

Thanx, David.

Subject: Fremont Trike?

Hi all:

I spent about an hour at the Holcim Wetlands east of Florence, Fremont Co., CO,
this afternoon in hopes of seeing the previously reported Tricolored Heron. It
was not to be, but I did score a first Fremont and third Colorado record
Roseate Skimmer (a male;
http://www.flickr.com/photos/tony_leukering/4713222734/). ; The only two other
records come from quite disparate counties -- Baca and Larimer, with the record
from the latter being found by David Leatherman a few years back (hopefully,
he'll correct me if I got anything wrong). The skimmer spent the few minutes
that it was in view patrolling quite actively along the southern edge of the
marsh, but then vanished to parts unknown. 'Twas hard to photograph, but I got
one reasonable flight shot and one distant perched shot and that was all he
wrote.

Enjoy,
