Dear Cobirders, If anyone in the Boulder area is interested in taking
out a visiting artist/birder on Wednesday, June 23rd, here is some
information on what he is interested in doing. This is through Eco
Arts, a non-profit that brings together artists and scientists to
better communicate and work on climate change and environmental
issues (ecoartsonline.org), Brian Collier, the visiting artist,
writes: “The focus of my work is on the human impact on bird
populations, and helping people find value and wonder in the
experience of non-human wild nature in unexpected places. Birds,
being the most visible element of unmediated non-human nature aside
from insects and weeds, are the perfect candidate for this goal. I
want to push the idea that nature can be found almost anywhere if we
just adjust the way we look at our everyday experiences. The
proximity to huge amounts of wonderful local wilderness areas in
Boulder might make this seem like a strange thing to do there, but I
am convinced that promoting a more intimate daily connection to these
imperfect experiences of "nature" help people make connections
between their daily lives/activities and the impact that it has on
the non-human natural world. his web site is http://
briandcollier.com/. If you have any time on Wednesday, and could
take Brian out, please contact Marda Kirn, Eco Arts director, at
[email protected] 303.449.2128 office 303.359.3811
cell. Thank you very much. If you are unable to go out on
Wednesday, or some to a gathering Wednesday evening at a private
home, but are interested in collaborating on this project, please
contact Marda or myself. Thanks! Elena Klaver
