Yesterday we checked the bluebird boxes in our 'yard.'

BD & TB: Western Bluebirds, nests with eggs, both pairs on second nestings.
When we first moved here 12 years ago, we had only Mountain Bluebirds. Now we
don't see any of them along our road, the first subdivision road north of
Castlewood Canyon SP -- only Westerns.

OW, AG, & EC: House Wrens feeding young.

BB: House Wren nest with 4 eggs.

C: nest box knocked down by either bear or raccoon, edible contents (House
Wren) cleaned out.

WO: House Wren built dummy nest on top of Violet-green Swallow nest. Swallows
gone.

DR: House Wren built dummy nest on top of Tree Swallow nest. Swallows abandoned
it.

NC: Tree Swallows moved into this box (probably the DR pair). When we opened
the box yesterday, the swallows flew around frantically as a contented
Bullsnake peered out at us.
This morning, nest empty, no swallows.
