Yesterday I did some birding west of Canon City including at Texas Creek (a
slow down in the road with a cafe) and the nearby Texas Creek BLM area. I
saw one Pinyon Jay and heard several more in a large patch of tall skunkbush
and a flock of Bushtits in some rabbitbrush in another part of the BLM
area. I walked across the bridge over the Arkansas River and on my return a
very young Common Raven flew onto a fence about 15 feet in front of me. I
got a few very super close-ups before it scared my little dog (who weighs a
lot more but was smaller than the raven) who barked at it causing it to fly
off. I have posted the photos, so close-up you can almost count the
feathers on their heads, on my
BirdsAndNature<http://BirdsAndNature.blogspot.com>blog. I also posted
about recent research about birder impacts.

The two juvenile prob hybrid phoebes continue at my friend's place east of
Canon City--they are now 23 days post fledging and the longest I have ever
been able to follow young phoebes after they fledged.
