Greetings,
With the recent push of migrants, it appears that birders have emerged from their summer aestivation, as evidenced from the recent pulse of messages on Cobirds. As a way of kicking off the fall migration season, I invite everyone to the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory's annual picnic this coming Saturday, August 28. Birders are invited to join the members, board and staff of Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory for a day of bird oriented fun at the annual BBQ with the Birds. Activities begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday with bird walks and banding. The event will be held at RMBO's Old Stone House headquarters on the north side of Barr Lake. Other activities will include Kids' games and crafts, silent and live auction, live raptors, vendors, and workshops. Workshops will include bird sketching (pre-registration required), birding by ear, grassland birds, and landscaping for birds. The popular BBQ lunch will be served at noon. A fee is charged to cover expenses. Please RSVP at 303-659-4348 ext. 12, or [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> . More information is available at http://www.rmbo.org/blog/?p=403 <http://www.rmbo.org/blog/?p=403> . I'm sure there will good birds about, considering passerine migration and that Barr Lake has some shore for shorebirds. I hope to see you there!
