Hi Birders,

A few of us were lazing our way (13 birds in about 3 hours) through the
morning. At 10 a.m. the heat was kicking in, so we decided to make a run and
close the nets in the sun. Got to Net 2 just in time to see the last of a
flock of mostly Audubon’s Warblers fly in – 22 birds in one net. Gary Mattes
commented on the adrenaline rush! We had a total of 39 new birds in what
became the last run – more new birds than we’ve had in any single day for over
a week. Never know what a banding morning will bring!

Morning’s total was 52. Here’s the breakdown:

Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Myrtle 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon 18
Unidentified Yellow-rumped Warbler 2
Townsend’s Warbler 2
Wilson’s Warbler 6
Chipping Sparrow 7
Lincoln’s Sparrow 2
White-crowned Sparrow, Gambel’s 6
White-crowned Sparrow, Mountain 3
Oregon Junco 1
Pink-sided Junco 1

We will be closed Wednesday, otherwise open all week.
