As Carol posted while I was hiking on the Goshawk Trail, just east of Eldorado
Springs, around 2 pm as soon as I got out of the car at the trailhead I could
hear them. After finding the flock of around 150, they flew south, caught a
thermal, rose and continued on. Also on that trail were about 6 Red Crossbills,
type unknown, some white crowned sparrows, and a Sharp Shinned Hawk who went
after a squirrel. This morning at Walden Pond, Carol and I saw an osprey with a
radio collar on, who flew over the pond, scaring up most of the ducks. There
was a canvasback and a greater yellowlegs among the mostly widgeons, redheads,
coots, ring-neckeds, and others.
