COBirders, Laurie, Lori, and Harriet from Denver Audubon, and I found a confiding "Red" Fox Sparrow along the ditch leading southeast from the huge crack willows near the Chico Basin Ranch banding station. It was with a load of White-crowned Sparrows.
In a flock of Horned Larks by Headquarters Pond (Pueblo) we were able to see and hear one McCown's Longspur and one Chestnut-collared Longspur. In the strong northerly winds, lots of raptors were moving including Merlin and Ferruginous Hawks (El Paso). At Turkey Creek Recreation Area on Ft. Carson (El Paso), only one of the previously reported 30+ Lewis's Woodpeckers was present, but he/she has a huge cash of acorns. About 12 Evening Grosbeaks and 26 Wild Turkeys there were seemingly enjoying the rain more than we were.
