A Varied Thrush has come to a backyard in eastern Douglas County since Wednesday. Very shy, it skitters away from jays, magpies, and crows, and it doesn't condescend to share its perch with chickadees or nuthatches. It does not associate with robins. [The homeowner requests anonymity; in order to see the bird you have to go inside the home and view the yard from the family room & kitchen.]
The main point of this post -- maybe this thrush has some companions in other parts of the state -- so keep your eyes open.
