Ran into Mark Peterson at Red Rocks Trading Post late this afternoon.
Between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. we were able to locate the Curve-billed
Thrasher, Golden-crowned Sparrow, and White-throated Sparrow. The
Curve-billed Thrasher was seen beneath the east feeder and the wall,
then sitting on the wall and in the small tree, and finally flew down
below the wall. It was seen twice. The Golden-crowned was observed
on the ground between the apple tree in the corner and the west feeder
and came in to feed two different times. The White-throated Sparrow
was observed near the feeder on the west side. It came in twice and
each time hung back at the base of the bushes just south of the
feeder. Bumping into Mark and seeing all three birds made for a
wonderful evening.
After my visit to Red Rocks drove through Bear Creek Lake Park and
found 4 American White Pelicans on the lake in the SW cove. Seems a
little late to find them at BCLP.
