I was able to get some good video of the male as well as the female
Williamson's Sapsucker and I have uploaded the first few clips onto my
BirdsAndNature <http://BirdsAndNature.blogspot.com> . It is less intrusive
to use my camcorder as it makes less noise than my dslr and this very shy
guy tolerated it better. If you have never watched a sapsucker drill sap
wells or probe previously drilled wells for more sap or insects or both,
these will be most informative. For those of us who enjoy bird watching
these are too cool plus they provide good views of front, back and some of
usually not seen plumage.

I didn't get out until this afternoon to check sap wells at the Abbey so
didn't see any sapsuckers but from the number of sap wells freshly drilled I
believe there are at least 2 sapsuckers working there (I just checked most
of these trees last week so new sap wells have mostly been drilled in fewer
than 7 days). In the past there have been 2 sapsuckers working this area.
