Hey all! So I'm not one to go all sappy (bird reference), but being that I give thanks only one day a year, I thought I'd do it here this year. I usually post strictly sightings with any observations reserved for wise-cracks (see previous sentence) about personifying whatever critter I'm gawking at. So I returned home on this Saturday past having braved a wicked head cold and added a check mark next to the Ross's Gull in every book I own and to the Excel spreadsheet I have created (Many thanks Glenn, Joe, and Cole!!!). My fiance noted that it was fairly surprising that I found the bird so fast having made it from Fort Collins and back in a few short hours. I had to explain that it wasn't the bird I had found so fast but the 30 other people on the Lake Loop that made it easy. That was easy to explain. Trying to explain Dave Leatherman's headstone humor was an effort in futility. We are an interesting group indeed. I am constantly amazed at the depth and completeness of knowledge and observational savvy that I read daily from this site. Anytime I have questions about big-picture "how does this relate to this", the blanks are filled before I can send the question bouncing through the inter-web. To those who make this birding site possible, it is very much appreciated. I hope everyone has a great holiday!
