This morning at our backyard feeders in amongst all the Dark-eyed Juncos,
Pine Siskins, Lesser Goldfinch, American Goldfinch, Blue Jays, Hairy and
Downy Woodpeckers, Eurasian Collared Doves, House Sparrows, House Finches,
Evening Grosbeaks, Black-capped and Mountain Chickadees, a lone Magpie, and
too many Red-winged Blackbirds to count we had the following:

2 Spotted Towhees (male) - if the past behavior is any indication, they will
over winter here
35-40 Pinyon Jays swooped in and brought 1 lone American Crow with
them...although we have had American Crow do flyovers and land in the yard
before...we have never had one stop by to check out the feeders!
1 Common Grackle...a bit odd for this time of year...was mixed in with the
Red-winged Blackbirds
White-throated Sparrow (just 1) continues to come in
2 Song Sparrows (1 is missing it's tail)
2 White-winged Doves again! The odd thing about this is, for couple of days
we had 2 and then for several days now we have had just 1...and it had
become quite assertive...taking on the Blue Jays, being belligerent towards
the Red-winged Blackbirds...we had never noticed this behavior before. This
morning the 2 did not stay around for long and acted a little timid...as we
are used to seeing them behave.
1 first of the season Cassin's Finch showed up for just a minute or two.
Hope it comes back!
1 Sharp-shinned Hawk swooped in briefly
