A winter adult Harris's Sparrow visited our feeding area in SE Ft. Collins this morning long enough for several photos. A first winter individual was also seen and photographed here on Nov. 19, 2010. In comparing the two, today's bird has a considerable amount of black feathering around the throat, lores and forehead, although some white under the throat remains.

It was nice to have one so early in the season. I don't see this species every year.
