I think there are only two accepted records of Tufted Duck for Colorado.

One adult male at Walden Ponds, Boulder County, 21-23 March 1997, found by
Myron Plooster.

One adult male at Barr Lake, Adams County, 28 March 2000, found by Karleen
Schofield.

So, today's bird at Golden Ponds in Longmont, Boulder County, would be the 3rd
state record (pending acceptance of course), and the first since 2000.  The
bird in 1997 was very
cooperative and seen by lots of people, including me, it was with a lot of
Greater Scaup.

I also, remember seeing one in Lafayette, before the 1997 bird, that had a red
band on one leg, and was thought to be an escape.

Good birding,

Brandon Percival
