Hey Brandon,,

Really great that you can access these records so easily..

What fun we had with those first Tufted Ducks.

The first one was at Waneka Lake in Lafayette. Dwayne Nelson called me to
check it out and it definitely was a Tufted Duck. The next day was a DFO
which trip we led. I took some grain along and scattered it and the duck
immediately came out of water to it and band was visible and there was a
collective groan, as i had just cost the whole lot of us a Tufted Duck on
our lists.

The one that Myron found at Cottonwood Marsh...He had just gone out for a
walk but as always he had his binocs with him,.he had to return home and
tell me, then dash back as he didn't even have the scope with him
originally. I started calling people to come and verify., and then ran out
to see it for myself as well.So between all the calls and the DFO Bird
Alert, we got the word out. Yes, that bird was also with a group of Greater
Scaup. It was really hard to get the word out quickly before cell phones.
Fortunately the bird stayed around for a couple of days and was seen by lots
of birder's.

Those were the days!!!
