All,
John Vanderpoel and I birded some Boulder and Denver locations today.
The Tundra Swan remains at Valmont Res seen from the south overlook.
A 2nd-cycle Lesser Black-backed Gull was on the ice at the small lake
on the east side of Lowell just south of Hwy 7 in Broomfield County.
We then went to the Platte River at 88th Avenue. Walking south, we
found the Dunlin on the island in the river right under the green and
white water tank, and a male and three female Barrow's Goldeneyes in
the river about 100 yds further south. We didn't see the Long-tailed
Duck that was on the water treatment lake to the west. Lastly, we
went to the Red Rocks Trading Post. After spreading some seed, the
Curve-billed Thrasher and Harris's Sparrow came to feed, as did about
fifty Rosy Finches; all Grey-crowneds except for a few Brown-cappeds,
Cheers, Peter Gent.
