Hello, Birders. Needless to say, all of us are headed to Grand Junction for the 2011 Colorado Field Ornithologists (CFO) convention, May 20th-23rd. But what are you doing for the two weekends leading up to the CFO convention? Let me guess: birding the eastern plains. That's great, and, while you're at it, you might want to think about sneaking across the border, if barely so, for 2 other great birding events: May 6-8, 2011. Kansas Ornithological Society spring conference, Morton County. Details at http://www.ksbirds.org. May 13-15, 2011. Oklahoma Ornithological Society spring conference, Cimarron County. Details at http://www.okbirds.org. Both counties abut Colorado's splendid Baca County. Make it a whole week down there! Make new friends! Just make sure there's enough gas in the tank, literally and figuratively speaking, to haul it back to Grand Junction for the CFO convention.
