I was not more specific about the location of the Wastewater Treatment Plant
where I located this bird yesterday because without permission, people are
unable to enter the premises. Regardless, the plant is on 75th St, between Jay
and Valmont, E of Boulder. Walden Ponds, just a short distance away, is
currently covered with ducks so it's worth looking there (which I did after
leaving the plant). Christian Nunes posted the large number of ducks on Walden
Ponds Sunday. I was there early Sunday AM when there were about 400 birds and
12 duck species. At 7:45, an adult Bald Eagle flushed the largest raft of
ducks, mostly Redheads, I think about 175 birds. I checked Walden again after
the huge winds erupted later that morning, and those birds had not returned.
Yesterday when checking the ponds, numbers of ducks were similar to those from
post-flush on Sunday. Birds fly in, birds fly out.
