This morning I found a juvenile plumaged sapsucker of the Red-naped or
Yellow-bellied type along Greenwood Rd. in Wetmore. I couldn't tell by
observation which it was. However, conventional wisdom holds that any
juvenile
of these two found in winter is the Yellow-bellied. (Also per Kaufman,
"Advanced Birding" 1990, p.179)

The markings on the body and head were mostly brownish and off-white.
There was no red on the head. The throat however was all white. A hint of
yellow on the belly.
