I saw some strange looking mallards today at Golden Ponds in Longmont
(on 3rd Ave west of Hover).
The photo links below are for two individuals. The last one seems to
show a Mallard with unusual breast plumage or a mallard-heavy hybrid.
The individual pictured in the first 3 is a bit more puzzling to me. I
feel confident calling it a Mallard because of the shape, size, sound,
interaction with other mallards, proximity to humans, and attraction
to bread crumbs (not thrown by me), but I couldn't locate a similar
specimen on the web and Sibley and National Geographic provided no
insight.
I would appreciate if someone could take a moment to look at the
photos and let me know they think.

Also heard and saw FOS Yellow-Rumped Warbler among the cottonwoods
immediately south of the ponds. Several people were fishing along the
bank of the pond closest to the parking lot - my FOS Osprey decided to
join the action. It landed and came to a complete stop near the shore
and then flew off with a grey, shiny prize.
