Highlights of a great day in the Denver area. Genesee Park this morning yielded several nice Williamson's Sapsuckers and all three nuthatch spp.. Red Rocks late morning / early afternoon : "all four" sparrows at the Trading Post feeders (Golden-crowned, White-crowned, White-throated and Harris's) plus the Curve-billed Thrasher. Also a male Broad-tailed Hummingbird there. Cherry Creek State Park this afternoon: Neotropic Cormorant seen from the Marina - but the bird was in the SW corner of the reservoir with 3 Double-cresteds - thank goodness for the 25-50 zoom on the Swarovski scope! We could not relocate the bird late afternoon. 15+ Blue-winged Teal 3 Lesser Yellowlegs 2 Greater Yellowlegs 5 American Avocets 3 Bonaparte's Gulls (2 adults in breeding plumage, 1 adult winter) 40+American Pipits on the dam Good birding Dick Filby Carbondale -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
