This evening a bit after 6, there were 3 semipalmated plovers, a
dowitcher, and 3 bonapartes gulls on the mud flats. This morning in the
snow about 9, a Hudsonian godwit was working the flat and a solitary
sandpiper was a little ways away. The godwit plumage was aberrant--it
had a very light almost white crown. Smallish size, like a yellowlegs,
dark legs, reddish flanks, upturned bill. I went back an hour later to
get a better look, but Bill Schmoker and I weren't able to refind it.
