Not as great of numbers, but continuing variety of shorebirds this afternoon
at Cherry Creek. At the observation deck area off of the prairie loop,
there were still Semipalmated Plovers, Western and Semipalmated sandpipers,
a Sanderling, a large number of Wilson's phalaropes, Avocets, Willets,
Marbled Godwits, both yellowlegs, and Long-billed Dowitchers. The Caspian
tern was on the spit at the marina at about 6PM, keeping company with
gulls, Pelicans, Double crested corms and the ongoing Neotropical Corm, but
when we were leaving at about 7PM, a last look in the Southeast corner
showed that the tern had popped up with the gathering gulls there. Thanks
to Glenn and Loch for reporting this embarrassment of migration riches!
