Spring banding at Chico Basin Ranch commenced on Monday, April 25th. Total birds banded for the first three days of the season were 35 on Monday, 28 on Tuesday, and a mere 6 on Wednesday. Species and numbers for each day included: Monday House Wren – 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglet – 4 American Robin – 2 (plus 2 return birds banded in 2009 and 2010) Hermit Thrush – 3 Brown Thrasher – 1 Orange-crowned Warbler – 1 Audubon’s Warbler - 4 Myrtle Warbler – 10 Unidentified Yellow-rumped Warbler -1 Spotted Towhee – 1 Lincoln’s Sparrow – 1 House Finch – 3 Pine Siskin – 1 Gray-headed Junco – 1 Pink-sided Junco – 1 return bird from 2008 Tuesday
