Spring banding at Chico Basin Ranch commenced on Monday, April 25th.  Total 
birds banded for the first three days of the season were 35 on Monday, 28 on 
Tuesday, and a mere 6 on Wednesday.  Species and numbers for each day included:

Ruby-crowned Kinglet – 4
American Robin – 2 (plus 2 return birds banded in 2009 and 2010)
Hermit Thrush – 3
Brown Thrasher – 1
Orange-crowned Warbler – 1
Audubon’s Warbler - 4
Myrtle Warbler – 10
Unidentified Yellow-rumped Warbler -1
Spotted Towhee – 1
Lincoln’s Sparrow – 1
House Finch – 3
Pine Siskin – 1
Gray-headed Junco – 1
Pink-sided Junco – 1 return bird from 2008
 
Tuesday 
 

Downy Woodpecker – 1 new plus 1 banded last fall
Ruby-crowned Kinglet – 1
American Robin – 5
Hermit Thrush – 1
Gray Catbird – 1
Spotted Towhee – 4
Gambel’s White-crowned Sparrow – 14
American Goldfinch – 1
 
Wednesday
 
Mourning Dove – 1
American Robin – 2 (plus 1 return from last spring)              
Audubon’s Warbler – 1
Chipping Sparrow – 2
