I have had a nice few days at Cherry Creek State Park. Most of the migration
action is visible on the Prairie Loop -- at the bird viewing area of the
mudflats. The shorebirds are arriving. In the past few days -- from this
vantage point -- the following:

American White Pelican
Great Blue Heron
Double-crested Cormorant
American Coot
Western Grebe
Marbled Godwit (1)
Sora (1)
Long-billed Dowitcher
Northern Shoveler
Wilson's Phalarope
Gadwall
Green-winged Teal
Killdeer
Black-necked Stilt
Lesser Yellowlegs
Greater Yellowlegs
Ring-billed Gull
Franklin Gull
Bald Eagle
Red-tailed Hawk
Wilson's Phalarope

Near the birding viewing area of the Prairie Loop -- just to the east in the
trees, the first cottonwood and willow are greening up -- and I have spied the
following;

American Goldfinch
Yellow-rumped Warbler
American Robin
Downy Woodpecker
Black-capped Chickadee
Red-winged Blackbird
Western Meadowlark
Starling

I have also seen other sparrow and wrens, but I'm not confident in my ID

On the dam near the Marina (west side of the lake) -- the sand spit remains
popular for gulls, pelican and cormorant. I did see the Juvenile Neotropic
Cormorant from near this location last week as well -- but not consistently.

American White Pelican
Ring-billed Gull
California Gull
Franklin's Gull
Double-crested Cormorant
Common Merganser
American Coot
Western Grebe
Horned Grebe
Willet
Osprey
Mallard
Canada Geese

and on the reservoir dam wall in the rocks (west side), a beautiful Rock Wren
-- loud and clear.
