Has anyone seen whether this bird has a band or not? MOST of the birds in captivity would be banded.
I don't know why we are always so in doubt that a bird.. might fly somewhere. Regardless of its "expected behavior". Even the Streak-backed Oriole I had in my yard a few years ago was a surprise - maybe more "inclined" to be vagrant, but why did she stay so long? Could she have been a released captive bird? Why not? Birds fly folks - where they want whenever they want.
