At 6:45 PM Saturday, 5/14, I observed an eastern phoebe in the trees above the picnic tables on the west side of the park. Other notes: Went back (of course) to look for sparrows 5/13. Didn't refind the Baird's or any buffy/saffron faced small sparrows, either. I would say that the percentage of sparrows on the Prairie and Lake loops was about three to five percent of what it had been 5/12. Almost all sparrows were lark sparrows, few chipping and wh-cr. I did find an Eastern Kingbird around the flooded Cottonwood lake and field. On a happy note, I observed those two previously forlorn looking Canada geese where Cherry Creek crosses the road. No eggs. Swimming between them were 5 yellow goslings. On 5/14 a flock of 35 chipping sparrows was in the Lake loop.
