It was near the end of the Niedrach trail at the east end of the tunnel of trees. Arapahoe County: --Stecher reported a BAIRD'S SPARROW seen with other sparrows at the Prairie Loop at Cherry Creek State Park on May 12. Extensive searching by other birders later in the day failed to relocate the bird. Bent County: --Percival reported a Yellow-throated Vireo at "Van's Grove" on May 12. --At Temple Grove (Kiowa CR 35 at the Fort Lyon Ditch) (It is Ok to walk along the ditch road on either side of CR 35. It is NOT OK to walk around in their yard. Please respect these rules for the nice folks who fought hard to save the trees. ----On May 11, Kaempfer reported Hooded Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, and Black-throated Green Warbler at Tempel Grove. ----On May 12, Percival reported the following warblers at Tempel Grove: Hooded, Black-and-white, Black-throated Gray, American Redstart, Ovenbird, and Northern Waterthrush. Boulder County: --Lamorureux reported a Caspian Tern and several Red-necked Phalaropes at Cottonwood Marsh, Walden Ponds on May 12. Hansley and Gent reported that the Caspian Tern continues at Cottonwood Marsh on May 14. --Nunes reported a female Hooded Warbler at Twin Lakes Open Space northeast of Boulder on May 10. --Heinrich reported a Black-throated Gray Warbler at Sale Lake in Boulder on May 13. --At Golden Ponds in Longmont, Mlodinow reported a male Hooded Warbler and singing male Blackpoll Warbler on May 14. Cheyenne County: --Kaempfer reported a BROWN PELICAN on May 11 at the Kit Carson sewage pond. Denver County: --A male SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER was reported by Henwood at Marston Reservoir. It was on the south side of Marston along the fence separating Marston from the Twin Shores Subdivision. Kilpatrick refound the SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER on the southwest side of the lake on May 14. Douglas/Jefferson Counties: --On May 2 Lentz found a TRICOLORED HERON at the Plum Creek Delta at Chatfield State Park. The heron has been seen in the same area (often with difficulty) at least through May 13. Linfield reported seeing the heron on May 13 at 0700. --Eastern Phoebes were reported by Jones at Chatfield on May 12. One was at Plum Creek near the bathrooms and one was near Kingfisher bridge. Kibbe reported an Eastern Phoebe near the Plum Creek Delta (TRICOLORED HERON area) on May 13. --A Blackpoll Warbler was reported by Kilpatrick at Chatfield on May 14. El Paso County: --Burns reported a Northern Parula seen daily May 8-11 at Sondermann Park in Colorado Springs. --Pals reported the following birds on May 14 on the Fountain Creek Spring Count: 1 Green Heron, 1 male Black-throated Blue Warbler, 1 male Black-throated Gray Warbler, 1 male BAY-BREASTED WARBLER, 2 Northern Waterthrush. Fremont County: --A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Moss on the Canon City Riverwalk on May 13. --A Northern Waterthrush was reported by Moss on May 14 on the Canon City Riverwalk. Grand County: --A male White-winged Scoter was reported by Newport on Wolford Mountain Reservoir on May 13. Wolford is north of Kremling on the road to Steamboat. Huerfano County: --A RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD was reported by Nelder at her feeder on May 12 and it returned on May 13. Nelder reports that the RUBY-THROAT returned the morning of May 14. Contact her at [email protected] for information. --A Northern Waterthrush was reported by Percival at Lathrop State Park on May 13. Jefferson County: --Hager reported a male SCARLET TANAGER just east of Bass Lake in the Wheatridge Greenbelt on May 10. --Henwood reported the following birds at Red Rocks Trading Post on May 10: Slate-colored Fox Sparrow, Curve-billed Thrasher, White-throated Sparrow, Harris's Sparrow, Golden-crowned Sparrow. The Fox Sparrow and thrasher were seen again by Henwood on May 13. --A Northern Waterthrush was banded by McBurney at the RMBO Chatfield Banding Station on May 14. Kit Carson County: --A Summer Tanager was reported by Kaempfer in Burlington in the Safeway Parking Lot on May 14. Larimer County: --Leatherman reported a Black-throated Green Warbler on May 12 in the souteast corner of Grandview Cememtery in Fort Collins. --At Lake Estes on May 14, Matthews reported Black-and-white Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler, and Palm Warbler. Mesa County: --Filby reported that the BLACK-CHINNED SPARROW continues on the Devil's Kitchen Trail in Colorado National Monument on May 13. Prowers County: --Kaempfer reported a Golden-winged Warbler seen at the north end of the Lamar Community College woods on May 11. Toward the south end of the woods he found Philadelphia, Cassin's, and Red-eyed Vieros. --On May 12, Percival found a Summer Tanager at Willow Creek Park in Lamar and two more Summer Tanagers and a Northern Parula at the Paulson farm (CR SS and CR7). Pueblo County: --Percival reported a male Black-and-white Warbler and Northern Waterthrush on May 14 at Valco Ponds parking lot in Pueblo. --Percival reported a Yellow-throated VIreo on the north side of the Arkansas River about 1/4 mile west of Pueblo Blvd on May 14. This is between Pueblo City Park and Pueblo Nature Center. Washington County: --A Northern Waterthrush was reported by Kaempfer at Last Chance on May 14. Weld County: --Dunning refound the BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE at Windsor Reservoir on May 14. Upcoming DFO field trips: The 30th Annual Spring Count will be held this coming weekend.
