Hello, all. I'm in Moab on business for the next week, but will have a few hours Friday PM and a half day (til noon) on Saturday in the Grand Junction area before I fly out. I'd like to try finding either type of Sage-Grouse or Hammond's F/C, if possible. I'm aware that the Gunnison Sage-Grouse has been seen at the Wuanita Springs lek, but I'm not sure it is accessible to the general public and it appears to be too far from GJ for a half day trip.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to find any of these species within a couple hours of Grand Junction? If the only way to see the grouse is with a guide, then I'd appreciate recommendations if you have them. Any tips you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
