I found an immature Broad-winged Hawk at Welchester Tree Grant Park on 8th Ave in Lakewood this morning. It flushed in the area south of the stream and west of the main entrance path and perched about 25 yards away so I could get a good look at it. Also one McGillivray's Warbler and one Dusky Flycatcher (calling).
Belmar Park yielded a Sora calling in the marsh. Bizzarre location department. While checking for the Peregrine Falcons at Ship Rock (saw none this time) a Northern Harrier circled Ship Rock and, apparently finding a thermal, soared aloft. No doubt a migrator. One Green-tailed Towhee at the feeders otherwise nothing there of note. Canyon Wrens singing. One of the finest singers in the West. Western Tanagers are on the move with three males at the south entrance. Bob Shade -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
